Batman is here; yet again to fly and save the Gotham City!
This is some awesome news for our kind! It is not very often that bats get marketing, but with this latest news, we hope that besides being considered just a malice at night, we bats would be more appreciated in giving Hollywood their ever-lasting super-hero: the Batman.
So folks; we have just heard the news, that Ben Affleck has been appointed the new Batman! Yay! Or should we say Nay?!
Alright, let’s start with putting things in perspective.
Christian Bale was good; not the best, but definitely believable. He looked like a stuffed suffering soul, but keeping in tone with the point-less dark theme of Christopher Nolan’s style, Bale sufficed alright.
But replacing him with Ben Affleck, who with all due respect was brilliant in Argo, may not be the best option after all.
Simply because, one, he was bad as and in Daredevil, and second, Affleck somehow doesn’t come across as the superhero kind.
He has done in his past movies—whether be it Good Will Hunting, The Town, Armageddon, Pearl Harbor to name a couple—a really good job of coming across as a very believable, and grounded actor.
Ben Affleck has throughout his career seemed to have played all characters that are bred from reality more convincingly than anything which may be out of the ordinary.
The trouble with the Batman series now is, that each time one thinks of them, the memory straight shoots to Heath Ledger’s legendary and unbeatable performance at The Joker. Now if Affleck an erase that from the memories, then his Batman is a winner.

Else, it will too fade like the memory of the past Batmans, that have included the charming Michael Keaton, the oh-not-so-cool George Clooney [in his absurdly loud man-nipples], the depressed-over-something-we-don’t-know-what Christian Bale, and the almost now forgotten Lewis G Wilson, Robert Lowrey, Adam West and why-god-why Val Kilmer.
The whole hype set for this new yet to be titled movie that will also feature our Man of Steel hunk will be awe-inspiring; simply because everyone will want to see the result.
Somehow this very much resembles the flak and apprehensions Daniel Craig got before his first feature as James Bond had released.
While Craig later managed to silence even the hardest of us critics, it is yet to be seen if Affleck will perform the same feat.
In the meanwhile, let us just hope that this Batman movie is a bit different from the typical Nolan style; it would be a welcome change to see a batman zip past a Gotham City that is not completely gullible to The Joker.
What do you folks think? Is it a good decision? Leave your comments below.
